1. Who we are

Klarotodo is a task management application operated by Knotter Holding B.V., registered in the Netherlands. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@knater.nl.

2. What data we collect

When you create an account we store:

• Your username, email address, and a hashed (bcrypt) copy of your password
• Tasks, projects, labels, and attachments you create within the app
• Preferences such as language and display theme
• An audit log of significant account actions (login, password change, etc.)

3. Cookies and local storage

We use only strictly necessary storage. We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or any third-party tracking.

• Session cookie — An HTTP-only, SameSite=Lax signed session cookie is set when you log in. It identifies your session and expires when you log out or after 30 days. This cookie is required for the app to function.
• CSRF token — A cross-site request forgery protection token is stored in your session. It is strictly necessary for security.
• localStorage — Your device stores your UI preferences (theme, language, view settings, sidebar state) locally. This data never leaves your device and is not sent to our servers.
• IndexedDB — Used to cache tasks locally for offline use and to queue changes made while offline. No personal data is sent to third parties.

4. Push notifications

If you enable push notifications in settings, your browser registers a push subscription with our server. This is entirely opt-in and can be revoked at any time from the Settings page or your browser settings. We use VAPID-based Web Push; your subscription endpoint is stored on our server solely to deliver notifications you have requested.

5. How we use your data

Your data is used solely to provide the Klarotodo service. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties, except where required by law.

6. Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at privacy@knater.nl.

7. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and port your personal data. You may also object to processing and lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Contact us at privacy@knater.nl to exercise any of these rights.

8. Security

We protect your data with password hashing (bcrypt), HTTPS, rate limiting, and account lockout protections. Attachments are stored server-side and are accessible only to account holders with appropriate project access.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated in-app. Continued use of Klarotodo after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using the Klarotodo service (“Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The service

Klarotodo is a personal and team task management application operated by Knotter Holding B.V. (“we”, “us”, “our”), registered in the Netherlands. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time with reasonable notice where possible.

3. Your account

• You must provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password.
• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
• Accounts must not be used by minors under the age of 16 without parental consent.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable law
• Upload malicious files, viruses, or harmful content
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' data
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its servers
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code

5. Your content

You retain ownership of all content (tasks, files, notes) you create in the Service. By using the Service, you grant Knotter Holding B.V. a limited license to store and process your content solely to provide the Service. We do not claim any ownership over your content.

6. File attachments

File attachments must not exceed 10 MB per file. You must not upload copyrighted material you do not have the right to distribute, or content that is illegal, obscene, or harmful.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or meet your specific requirements.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Knotter Holding B.V. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion, with or without notice. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at support@knater.nl.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Netherlands.
